A legal secretary has a firm background in law, preferably with a law degree behind his/ her name – this is often a good way for a new graduate to get a foot in the door of the legal world, and gain experience. The roles and responsibilities of the legal secretary are similar to that of the conventional secretary, with the exception that they are knowledgeable about the legal word, and understand the processes and terminology. They are employed by legal firms, advocates and magistrate offices. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are essential.
